On March 2nd, Red Sox ace David Price got shut down with a left elbow strain. Since then, the lefty has done virtually no pitching, and only did some touching up work off the mound. On Monday, April 10th, Price threw 20 pitches ina bullpen. If all went well, he’ll continually throw bullpen sessions which will eventually lead to a minor league rehab assignment.
With no actual timetable for his return, most people look towards the end of May as a reasonable date, but the Red Sox are not rushing him at all. After signing a 7 year $215 million dollar contract in 2015, it is in the Red Sox’s best interest to make sure he is fully healthy before putting him back in action.
The Red Sox look to have one of the best rotations in baseball when Price is healthy, pairing him with Chris Sale and Rick Porcello. Red Sox fans, however, have to wait just a little bit more.
