The Red Sox just recently lost a series to the Detroit Tigers three games to one. Most people would be far more concerned if they didn’t know the amount of bad luck the Red Sox went through. A crazy four days in Detroit where the Red Sox dealt with a widespread flu, two players on bereavement leave and an injury that landed star center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr. on the disabled list.
Even with all this, the Sox still tried to salvage a series split but Justin Verlander and the Tiger’s sharp bullpen shut the Red Sox lineup down. New Red Sox ace Chris Sale pitched an amazing 7 and 2/3 innings giving up only 2 runs and striking out a whopping 10. However, he still walked away with the loss after getting now offensive help.
The Red Sox seem to be at full strength coming into the series against Baltimore. Xander Bogaerts returns from bereavement leave while Hanley Ramirez hopes to return as well. Mookie Betts, Brock Holt and Andrew Benintendi all seem to be back at full health after suffering from the flu. Look for this lineup to put heavy offensive numbers when fully healthy.
